Cask at the Crosse Keys (JDW), City of London. Bright amber with a thin white head, orangey aroma; malty body with a bitter orange marmalade taste; then a dry finish with a touch of quinine; a satisfying winter beer.

Clear brown beer. Light white head. Light palate, dry. A little caramel malt supports some mildly bitter orange hop that is also tangy. Tangerine and lemon citrus as well. Finishes slightly dry. One of those beers that doesnโt shout itโs virtues but keeps you coming back for the next mouthful.

Cask@Sir John Oldcastle. Deep golden colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet malts, some fruity and floral notes as well. Flavour is caramel malts, mild soapy notes with quite mild spicy, wooden and floral notes. Basic and not that special Christmassy...

Cask handpull at Simple Simons, Canterbury. Copper/amber colour with thick beige lasting head. Rich red fruit aroma. Rich creamy red fruit, raspberry, redcurrant in mouth. Juicy with good malt hop finish. Good hop/malt balance throughout from aroma to finish. Some yeast on nose. Smooth, easy drinking.
