Brewed to mark the winter solstice, (the darkest and shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere), our Darkest Hour Imperial Stout is a fitting tribute. This behemoth of a stout is double mashed because it contains an ungodly amount of rich, dark malts. To this, our brewers add some Belgian Dark Candi Syrup and copious amounts of hops as a ballast. They feed the resulting wort to our house ale yeast and let the magic happen! Our Darkest Hour is an imperial stout of depth and complexity, much like our brewers. Brooding and moody, but nice to snuggle with in front of a fireplace on a cold evening. From DEBC to you, cheers to YOUR darkest hour!

T42 tasting on me Birfaday. Thanks to Colin. Almost opaque deep brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth semi dry palate. Dry and bitterish dark chocolate malts. Tangy dark fruits. Smooth but bitter finish. A standard impy that differs for being notably bitter.

The taste is earthy, toasty, rich roasted malt, earthy, wood, liquorice, fruity, some alcohol boost, burnt action and tar with a dry, toasty finish. Medium - full body and high, foamy carbonation. Ok, but no game - changer.

Sample at Hay Merchant in Houston. The beer pours brownish-black with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of roasty coffee, chocolate malt and some herbal hops in the background. The finish is mildly bitter with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.
