Nice clean pine and citrus notes. Well-balanced American IPA. Old achool

Pint at the brewery pours a pulpy yellow with some ringing white head. Nose is fresh grass and fresh cream, some pineapple curd, orange creamcicle, herbs. Flavor has malt and some honeycomb, tropical fruits, some white melon, some grassy character. Well balanced with the malt and the hops and the fruit character. Pillowy finish.

Can. Pours hazy yellow. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange, lemon. Medium body. Pretty tasty.

Draft at Beltway Brewing Company. Poured a yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light citrus, some light bitter floral notes. Flavor was light citrus fruit, light mango. Smooth, juicy and easy to drink.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s gaff. Big thanks to Leighton for this can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Very light malts and very light creamy sweetness. Light fresh orange and a little tangerine. Some bitter floralness in the mid. Touches of tropical fruits and pine before the light and semi dry finish. Mild bitter linger. Super drinkable.

Lightly-to-moderately hazy, pale-brassy-golden body is well-carbonated, showing a white head that is large and well-retained.
Like Magnetic Compass, it’s immediately apparent this isn’t a juice bomb. Fine, whatever, see if I care (I’m secretly crushed). Lots of pine and grapefruit are at least tempered by light mango and melon, but it’s got a strong intensity to it with definite resinous assertions (though it stops short of going overboard and still presents a mostly bright, clean, fresh aroma). Malts are bare and in the background adding only a bit of cracker and very faint honey. As it warms and breathes, it comes around a bit and divulges a bit more playful tangerine and melon, but the grapefruit and lemon never relinquish their grip fully.
Soft in the mouth, not incredibly so, with very high attenuation and a staunch bitterness that takes most of the focus off of the juicy aspect. Again, it’s there and there is some melon, mango and pineapple, but this is a very assertive, albeit very crisp and well-made, IPA straddling the lines between a NE and West Coast IPA (leaning much more towards a West Coast). I think the motueka adds a bit more playfulness than the Rakau from the Magnetic Compass, but they both remain a bit too bitter for those that only like the NE style of extremely low bitterness (aka non-IPA fans).
