Bottle thanks to Dave at level 42. It pours black with a medium tan head. The aroma is mellow, soft, sweet, rich, chocoalte, chocolate gateaux, touch of cherry and dried fruits. The taste is smooth, mellow, bitter - sweet, blackforest gateaux, dried cherry, alcohol and chewy malt with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate foamy carbonation. Drinks well. Tasty.

Medium sweet flavour with mellow roast, burnt toast, a little dry cocoa, leathery berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. 500ml bottle from Appellation Wines, Comely Bank. Pours near black with no head. Aromas of cherry and chocolate. Taste is more chocolate, faint sour cherry. Sweet cakey notes, although that might be the power of suggestion. Creamy texture, nicely balanced finish.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. There’s an olive sheen to the black. Nose - creamy chocolate but the cherry is more evident. Taste - creamy chocolate with a coconut base note. Lightly sour cherry again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant finish. Overall - lovely smooth stout. Perhaps a porter, in fact.
