[5/2/14] Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. 2nd session. Black with a brown foam. Aroma of roastiness, coffee and lots of chili. Roasty flavor with coffee, lots of chili and a very hot aftertaste. Full-bodied. Too hot for my liking.

Sample at CBC 2014, Blue Session. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt. The flavour is strong butte with a huge chilli spice palate which pretty much dominated this beer. I’m a chilli head so no complaints from me but those people who tend to react to those little red veggies of pure beauty might struggle with this one !

On tap at Flanny’s in Tempe during the tap takeover. It pours with a very dark body that supports a thin mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up big dark roasted maltiness, burnt malts, dark roasted coffee, a touch of toffee and then a pleasing chili pepper meat note. The taste begins with big robust levels of dark roasted malts, burnt malts and dark roasted coffee. Wow. This has a full and rich highly roasted start to it. After this initial assault bits of dark chocolate are noticed among the big bruising dark roasted notes. Underneath all of this murmurs chili pepper meat that slides slowly into a chili pepper burn that grows to modest levels into the finish. Yummy stuff with a great balance and richness.

On tap at the Stone 17th anniversary festival. More or less black body, with a dense, dark beige head. Lots of chili in the aroma, with dark chocolate and coffee. Less chili in the flavor, warming though, with dark chocolate and still quite a lot of chilies. Mocha finish. Nice, although too chili-ish. 130817
