Bottle shared at Leightons place, 10/07/2017. Many thanks to Daniel for this one. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is woody resinous hop, woody roast, pineapple. Smell like a black ipa. Flavour is composed of tangy pineapple, citrus, woody roast, toasted coconut, little lacto. Palate is tangy sour. Frorhy, moderate, Lingering tang, woody roast.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Danny. Pours black with a creamy, mocha head. The nose holds ashy roast, burnt wood, scorched earth, a little coffee. Light sweet flavour with an odd astringent note, a little dark malt tang. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Dry finish, more burnt wood, ash, earth, tangy leathery berries. So so.

Bottle at home, 29/05/17. Pitch black with a well appointed tan head that retains well. Nose is liquorice, aniseed, dark malts, light charr, earthy berry fruits, dark chocolate, burnt toffee, dusty hop spattering. Taste comprises roast malts, ashen tones, liquorice stick, charr, cocoa nibs, raisins, dark fruit rinds. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a bitter hop blast and light booze tunes, tarte red berry kicks in the more I drink. Akin to a double black IPA in some respects. Quite the bitter bastard at times which gives balance to the typical sweetness in a 10% impy. Overall not bad but nothing Iโd rush back to.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; opaque dark brown pour with a decent sized dark mocha head, aroma has dark roast, rich chocolate and some pine notes, taste has resinous pine action, well mixed with chocolate, dark roast and dark fruits, some bitter finish, slick chewy mouthfeel, almost an imperial BIPA, good stuff.

Old Coffee House. Keg. Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and dry, low carbonation. Soft dark malts, some creamy sweetness. Earthy coffee. Mild hop skunk. Tangy fruits, well buried. Finishes dry, spicy and floral bitter. Not gelling that well for me but thereโs nowt wrong with it.

Keg at The Old Coffee House, Soho, London. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, grapefruit aroma. Tastes much the same, roasty, malty, chocolate, grapefruit. A pretty decent imperial stout but I was expecting a little more from this one.

Keg at King William IV. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The aroma is fresh, bitter - sweet, rich roast, dark chocolate, burnt pine, varnish, pine needles and a touch herbal. The taste is bitter, earth, rich roast, charred pine, burnt toast, grassy, grapefruit, light soap, spice, herb and some alcohol with a warming finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Rich, fresh and hoppy. Pretty delicious.
