30/1/2020. Bottle from Hopsters, Ipswich. Pours black with a small beige head. Strong aroma of whiskey, peat and wood, with roasted malt, dark roast coffee, chocolate and toffee. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Whiskey and peat dominate the finish and aren’t my favourites, it took a while but I did start to start to appreciate this.

Bottle shared in London - sourced from the brewery. Pours clear, deep brown with a tight, creamy tan head, the nose holds burnt peppers, cocoa, coffee, mild ashy roast. Light to medium sweet flavour with a touch of ashy roast, toasted toffee, nips of pepper, dry cocoa. Meidum bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with mellow warmth, dried chocolate, scorched earth, leather. Really nice overall. Interesting, but well rounded.
