Inspired by SIBA's Wheat Beer challenge in 2001 we produced a 4.8% ABV beer using 40% Wheat Malt and 60% Malted Barley. To underline the continental heritage of this beer we uncharacteristically brewed with choicest Hallertau hops from Germany. This award winning brew has been described as 'wheat and sweet'. It is light in colour with a moreish dry palate.

Bottle from Harveys Brewery Shop. Pours an almost clear golden/honey colour with a small white head. Very soft gentle carbonation. Faint aromas of grain, wheat, bread, biscuits, banana and honey. Taste is more of the same notes, grassy with an earthy hop bitterness and a dry finish. fairly sweet initially but the bitterness from the hops creates a very well balanced beer. Fairly light bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Overall it’s quite a nice beer

Bodney Towers bottle share. Thanks to Dave Wingman. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palate, dry and with decent fine carbonation. Thin and sweetish malts. Little ripe orange. Light dry finish. Clean but yet another dull offering from this puzzlingly well regarded brewery.

Bottle shared in Hackney - big thanks to Dave for the rare style here. Pours totally clear gold with a small, foamy white head. Doughy wheat bread in the aroma, with touches of lemon and tangerine, yeast. Light sweet flavour, grainy, with more doughy wheat, lemon rind, straw, grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with some husky bitterness, an odd plastic note, further dough wheat bread, white bread. Pretty so so.

Bottle from the brewery. A tough cookie, at the start it was actually quite fine. The carbonation was soft but there, and it tasted like a kristallweizen with the distinct Harveys taste. But now I am almost at the end of the pint, all the goodness has gone and it tastes like a cheap lager. Meh.

Cask halfpint at The White Hart, Crawley. 4.8%. Moderate aroma, some toffee and fruit. Tingling hops in the fairly fruity flavour, also decent malts. Very pleasant to drink.

Bottle from the brewery shop in Lewes. Smooth grainy beginning. Nice malty ale aromatic, smooth grainy, crisp with an easy drinking body. Not too long in the aftertaste, round and fresh. Malt, round and nice ale characteristic. Long mild malty aftertaste, grain, smooth, nice!
