An Imperial Russian Stout, based on a Victorian recipe. Brown and black malts make up nearly half of the grain bill, so this is about as dark and rich as they come. Traditional English hops produce high levels of bitterness. The high ABV means it'll continue to mature over a long period of time and so keep for years.

Bottle from Vine & Grain. Appearance - black and opaque, decent beige/tan head. Nose - fresh coffee, light smoke, Jamaica cake and lightly woody. Taste - raisin, cake and fresh coffee again. Palate - medium bodied, rich middle and still fairly sweet on the finish. Overall - yes, good impy though percentage wise it'd probably be a foreign / extra.

2/11/2020. Bottle from Message In A Bottle, Cleethorpes. Pours black with a rich tan coloured head. Aroma is dark chocolate, heavy roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, burnt toffee, touch of nut. Moderate sweetness, medium plus roasted bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Good looking and quite tasty. BB 12/2020, bought May 2018. Seemed to have matured quite nicely.

Bodney Towers bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Opaque dark brown beer, good 10 head. Pallet is Kerry, dry and has decent fine carbonation. Pretty bitter dark malts, liquorice and a little savoury. Light dry finish leaves a bitter linger. Quite a bitter imperial stout then.

Bottle shared in Hackney - big thanks to Wingman. Pours black-brown with a bubbly, brown head. Ashy roast in the nose, dry cocoa, old wood. Medium sweet flavour with some tangy wood, aged leathery berries, bitter chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Super dry on the finish, somewhat astringent, with more woody character, ash, scorched earth, old leather. So so overall.
