We think the russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Pitch black, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, light liquorice. Quite bitter flavour, strong liquorice. Finish roasted malts, liquorice, bitter cacao.

Black color with big beige head. Aroma is espresso, black chocolate, tobacco and ashes. Taste is black chocolate, espresso, creamy mouthfeel with fine ticklish carbonation. Quite a bitter espresso finish. Overall roastier than I had expected, but the mouthfeel is an absolute win. Great stuff!

Bottle from Sedona. They claim it's been aged about two years. Pours a thick black with a dark brown head. Lovely aroma of chocolates, dark fruit. Taste is dark and then creamy milk chocolate, light sweetness. Light floral and fruit. Delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A- Roasty, cocoa, subtle coffee, tobacco. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Roasty, cocoa, subtle bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Plenty of roasted notes and a bit of chocolate and tobacco otherwise a seemingly pure imperial stout with not a ton of interesting flavors or complexities.

One of the best russian imperial stouts out there, an excellent example of the genre. Pitch black pour with a bit of head. Smells of roasted malts and boatloads of dark cherries. The taste follows the same notes, simple components yet excellently blended. Smooth mouthfeel and a bitter aftertaste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout on 18 Feb 2017 at 22:19 - Score: 8. Original review text: Really straightforward Russian Imperial stout, excellently done.

Dark brown colour, huge creamy brown head; aroma of coffee, chocolate, woody notes, soy sauce, hints of vanilla and maybe some herbs and berries; taste is somehow mild with the same notes and spicy alcoholic aftertaste; great imperial stout

F: frothy brown, not long lasting. C: dark brown to dark, non-transparent. A: roasted malt mostly, hint of oat, chocolate malt, hops, yeast. T: yeah great roasted malt, some chocolate, earthiness, woody tones, some smoke, cognac, dry prune, oily mouthfeel, full body, low carbonation, words not describe all the features, must to try.

500ml bottle, thanks to Gunnar! Pours black with big tan head. Aroma is big and roasty. Taste is of course flavoursome, although perhaps not as thick as expected. Not a million miles away from their porter and exceptionally drinkable for the strength. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts all represented and beautifully balanced.
