Keg at six degrees north Edinburgh. Pours black, nose is liquorice, blackcurrant, chocolate, something odd, taste is dusty, roasted, dark fruit.

Keg at six degrees north Edinburgh.. Dark black.. Thin tan lacing.. Soft sweet dusty chocolate.. Dry woody toffee nose.. Light charcoal.. Something odd.. But decent burnt pine woody linger.. But something is detracting from it for me

Keg at piccadily tap, a clear reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a creamy beige head. Aroma is old pub carpets, musty apple, crab apple, dusty, leafy hop. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty old malts, little veg, pepper,. Palate is soft and creamy, lowish carbonation. Little liquorice in the finish.

Can from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Dark brown with a dark-malt tropical fruit aroma and taste, all hiding the Black IPA’s strength very well.

Cask at the Piccadilly Tap - Manchester. Pours deep brown with a tight, creamy khaki head. Pretty poor, marked by old burnt carpets, dirt, bitter cocoa, detergent. Light to medium bodied, creamy, with soft carbonation. Bitter finish, scorched earth, carpet, leaves. Garbage. (N.B. I mostly blame the pub, as we had two cask beers with similar horrible character. Seems they are not keeping their cask lines well.)

The Maltings, York. Keg. Almost opaque dark red - brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Palate is light, airy and semi dry. Decent fine minerally carbonation. Nice CDA dark malt base, light but carrying a little roast, mildly bitter. Trace of coffee. Mild Parma Violets and candy fruits. Mellow piney hop leads to well integrated orangey citrus. Light finish. It all comes together very well in to a light, tasty and very drinkable CDA.
