Cask, half-pint, shared with Finn at Maypole. Deep ruby-black body, filmy layer, patches on the surface. Nose is well roasted with scent of smoke, and chocolate. Chocolate malty flavours, lactose beneath. Lightly roasted ending, smooth on the swallow. Pretty good. (Cambridge 14.11.2021).

Bottle at home from Hertford North railway station bar. Another good pour into the tankard with long lasting lacing. This was all burnt and roasted malts with more than a hint of liquorice and some coffee. It also slipped down a treat and I would love to have this again.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 23rd January 2018. Red tinted black with pale tan foam and no lacing. A rich roasty malt aroma. Roasty in-mouth with berry fruits. Subtle smokiness in an otherwise caramel malt finish. Full-bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.
