The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) sustained great losses during the First World War. ANZAC day marks the anniversary of their first fateful campaign at Gallipoli. Biscuits of rolled oats, coconut and golden syrup were posted from home to the soldiers in the trenches. This liquid tribute combines the original ANZAC biscuit ingredients with Australian and New Zealand hops. Brewed annually in collaboration with The Bow Bar and Elixir Brew Co.

Very hazy orange colour, enormously huge yellowish off-white head; aroma of pine, lemongrass, grassy, herbal and mint leaf notes; taste is the same with some biscuits and fruitiness, as well as herbal liquieur

Hazy golden beer, frothy white head. Aroma is bready citrus, almost saison-y. Flavour has bitter tropical fruit, coconut through to the aftertaste, a touch of something like fresh mint. I should have chilled it more and the coconut hit stops it from being one I'd rush back to but it's more a personal taste issue than my finding flaws.

Can as a gift, from somewhere in Glasgow. Golden orange with a tiny bit of white head. Tangerine, loquat, golden syrup, light yeast. Sweet juicy taste with an intense bittering hop in the follow-up. Finish is very bitter but there’s still a sweet honey note. Kumquat peel and mango lassi in the aftertaste. It’s got a wonderfully scrummy character that makes it hard to drink slowly. I love it.

Can picked up at Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, toasted oats, biscuit, golden syrup and orange marmalade. The taste is crisp, bitter, zesty, orange peel, green coconut, rich tea biscuit, cake, spice, tannin and a touch of alcohol with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather interesting and quaffable. Good.

Bottle at The Beer Cafe, Glasgow in the company of Nick and Anna Friday 19th May 2017 Pours hazy dirty amber with a white head. The aroma suggests sweetness tempered with a little squeeze of lemon, but syrup noted. Streaky bitter bite, Loz picks up the coconut more than I do but I am getting it a little. This is a good beer. Can from The Beerhive. Hazy bronze body with a medium white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of biscuit, caramel and stewed tea. Flavour of marzipan, nuts and sugar. Medium body with a powdery mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Unusual but I didn’t particularly enjoy it. Maybe it’s better suited to cask.

On cask @ the Bow Bar. Appearance - amber and slightly hazy. Nice fluffy head. Nose - nuts, oatmeal and a touch of honey. Taste - honey and oatmeal again. It’s been ages since I’ve had Anzac biscuits but their now making me think of flapjacks. Palate - close to medium bodied. Creamy, sweet and lightily crunchy malt through the middle. Then a smooth dry finish. Overall - tasty.
