Clear amber-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and grainy malt. The finish is fruity hops up front with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle split at RBWG ’16 hotel lobby share, thanks to whoever brought this one, 01/02/16. Clear golden orange with a well appointed egg shell white head. Nose is orange pith, straw, earthy hop exhaust, toasted pine, grapefruit. Taste comprises bitter orange, pine, caramel malt, grapefruit, soft bread, tangerine, mango. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close peppered with semi aggressive hop bitterness. Ok DIPA ... drinks well for the ABV but there’s plenty out there less intense than this one that deliver more of what I crave from the style.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange gold with small frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong grapefruit, pine, dank. Medium mouth, pine, honey malt, resin finish, very good.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2016. Pours clear orange-gold with a frothy white head. The nose has ripe citrus, pale bread, tropical fruits, mango, melon, orange. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with rich citrus fruits, alcohol, mango, bitter grass, oily pine. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, resinous, with some orange, papaya, mango, more pine and grass. Pretty heavy hitting.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow with gold hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges slowly and laces. Aroma has sweet and bitter citrus with a touch of pine and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has resin and bitter citrus with some sweet grains and a touch of caramel.

Bottle - thanks Matt! Pours clear orange amber with a medium off-white orangish head and decent lacing. Aroma is pine, caramel, some citrus, bread. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, medium bitter. Kind of a malt bomb, not sure if it is because of age or brewer intent. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Not bad.

750mL bottle, sent from mista (thanks a lot, Geoff), pours a hazy golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is incredibly hoppy, lots of residual sugars, and a little butterscotch. Flavour brings out loads of resinous hops, balanced by a big portion of caramel malts. Lots of residual sugars, but somehow not cloying at all. There's a perfumy floral quality to it that is situated well. Not the most easy drinking IIPA, but well-constructed nevertheless.

2013 vintage. Pours a copper-amber, with massive, pillowy head. Floral, hop aroma, with some citrus, some bread. Flavor is amazingly balanced: there’s the expected citrus hop bite, but there’s also a lot of underlying malt sweetness, so that neither side overwhelms the other. An outstanding double IPA (although the bottle indicates it’s a triple!).

My first Steel Toe beer, and it drank pretty good. Clearly a double ipa, with sweet malt and lots of hops, and a somewhat thick palate. Citrus hop character, and sweet malt. It might be hard to drink a 750ml of this, but it is a good beer.
