Keg at the brewpub. Pours deep brown-black with a creamy, beige head. Rich aroma with lots of dark malt character, strong roast, baking cocoa, scorched earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavour, with hearty chocolate, light ash, prunes, figs. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Big finish, with light alcohol warmth, some bitter scorched earth, more baking cocoa, burnt toffee, touches of molasses. Solid overall.

Keg at the brewpub, 29/01/16. Black with a tan head. Nose is milk chocolate, light spice, chocolate biscuit, toffee, mellow fruit esters. Taste comprises light roast malts, subtle bourbon, chocolate, toffee fudge, dark fruits. Full bodied, fine carbonation, restrained alcohol rise in the close. Decent enough approachable BA impy.

Draft: Poured a black with a brown head. Aroma nice boozy malts and vanilla. Taste was vanilla, malts, and alcohol burn.

On tap @ brewpub during RateBeer weekend, January 2016. A bit murky, deep brown appearance with a thin brown head. Licorice, candy sugar, plums, chocolate, whiskey. Moderately thick, well balanced, moderately bitter and sweet. Delicious flavor with chocolate, caramel, and whiskey. Quite smooth. Fun to drink.

[1/29/16] Draught at Marin Brewing in Larkspur. Black. Great aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, cookies. Sweet flavor with chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, cocoa, some booziness. Rather full-bodied, rounded. Really good.

Draught at Marin Brewing Company. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of bourbon, coffee, light chocolate, raw sugar, toast and dried fruit. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

Draft at the Marin brewing company larkspur. 11%. An oily black, mahogany brown coloured pour with no head. Aroma is nice, big vanilla oak, Scotch whisky, creme caramel, cakey malts. Flavour is composed of sweet cakey malts, dried fruits, warming whisky, sweet vanilla, Bourbon, tart cherry. Palate is full bodied, oily, moderate carbonation. Hides the abv pretty well, good bourbon character.

Sample at the SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pours deep opaque black, Small brown head, decent lacing. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate and molasses. Flavor is fully sweet, lightly bitter, rich. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel.
