Bright citrusy unfiltered lager, this brew was borne of the brewers’ many trips to Germany. Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

Sample at the Columbus Winter Beerfest on 01/14/2012: This brew is a hazy yellow color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus and malt. Light body with a sweet citrus character and notes of herbs and malt. The finish is fruity with a sweet aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Draft. Cloudy gold into an English Pint. Not much head with no lace. Real odd nose, smells of leather. Maybe plastic?? Flavor is balanced nicely with sweet grassy malt, lemon citrus and a hint of a floral hop. The malt is bread like. When I was drinking this, it felt much like an APA. If this is truly brewed in the Lagering style, then this is a nice one. Way above any other lager I’ve ever drank.

Pours hazy dark golden orange color with white head. Floral hops and citrus aromas with some biscuit malts. Lemony citrus and flowery hop flavors with a hint of maltiness. Medium body with lively carbonation. Nice and refreshing. Not as good as the Noble pils but a solid effort.

Cloudy, gold appearance. Crisp, fresh taste. Has much more to offer than a run of the mill lager.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright yellow color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was faint citrus, bread and perfumey hops. The flavor was sour and tangy lemon with touches of bread and perfume. Short tangy citrus and perfume finish. Light body. Disappointing.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy yellow-orange appearance with a white head. Bready, floral, grassy, fairly sweet aroma. Tangy, banana/pineapple, fairly fruity, floral, grassy flavor. Pretty solid brew.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a small whtie head. Aroma is grainy malt with a noble hop in the backround. Flavor is more of the grainy malt without the hoppyness in the aroma. I kept thinking blonde ale while drinking this and then come to find its a lager. It’s ok and has a few good points. Deffinatly not up to par with the noble pils though.

12 oz bottle, courtesy of Jan’s butthole. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with a medium white head with nice retention and lace. Aroma is floral, peachy, chalky sour candy, vaguely vomity. Taste is sweet, grainy and much better than the aroma let on. This tastes pretty dang good, actually. Carbonation is average, body is medium. It’s a really nice beer, but whatever happened to Noble Pils? Oh, yeah, a sidenote. I’ve been looking for a beer in this style category, Zwickel/Keller/Landbier, ever since I got on this website over two years ago, looking for one of these beers. I never thought it would be Sam Adams that would supply me the beer to fulfill this category. Edit: damn, someone changed this from the Zwickel/Keller/Landbier style to Premium Lager. Will I ever get this elusive (for my area anyway) style??? Another edit: it’s back to Zwickel/Keller/Landbier again. WTF?
