Bright citrusy unfiltered lager, this brew was borne of the brewers’ many trips to Germany. Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

Bottle, at home - 10/05/13, labelled as ’Spring Lager’, from BOE. Hazed golden amber, small white head that clears to a film but retains a presence. Nose carries Noble hop notes, grass, light caramel, lemon sherbet. Taste coprises pale malts, light caramel, touch of citrus fruit, bitter orange notes, grain, light sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation - light sprtiz - suits the style and keeps it crisp and refreshing. Ok lager - not something I’d seek out again but way better than macro crap!

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy dirty golden color lager with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of dry floral hoppy notes with lightly sweet malt base. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet malt base with some nice floral hoppy notes. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation. Very well brewed with easy drinkability and enough complexity form the dry floral hoppy notes with light citrus undertones. This is a lot more hoppy then I would have expected.

A nice touch of hops livens up this lager. Color is hazy golden with a small, creamy head. Aroma is hops and lemons, taste is the same with some butter. This is a pretty good beer from Sam Adams....

Had this on tap at Mackey’s in DC. Premium lager? No way. This is definitely a helles (hence the unflitered). Either way, it’s cloudy almost orange with some bright white head. Nose is overly estery, like a hef that fermented way too hot, clove, orange, bananas. Flavor is the same with a big of rotting fruit. Not good.
