Specially brewed using an infusion of Chinese bruised ginger root and botanical extracts, Old Tom Ginger is a lively breed indeed. It has a delicious purring warmth for those colder winter nights…and a refreshing summer coolness when served over ice.

Bottled (BZ, BB 12/2010)
Dark ruby color, steady creamy beige head, lace. Strong bun aroma (=ginger), also kind of earthy notes. Also flavor has some cellary notes. Of course ginger dominates and beer is tasting like a breezer or soda pop mixed with ginger. Spicey and soapy lemony mouthfeel. Far from a real beer. Bad bottle?

Bottle, at Cardinal. It pours a clear, amber body under a beige head. Lots of ginger on the nose, overpowering anything else. The flavor is also dominated by ginger, with a spiced, chili-like touch and a malty sweetness as a foundation. Full body. Warming in the finish. Overall, way too gingery for my palate, 15 cl was enough by far. Still, I like it. 091106

0.33 l bottle from beershop.hr, shared with Doggythedog. It poured copper brown body with cascade medium head. Aroma is lemony, ginger cola, quite fine actually. Flavor is similar, shows up very little malty beer with ginger burn dominating, especially in the finish. Not bad though and interestingly how we both liked it and couldn’t exactly explained why, as otherwise more beer flavor would mean better drink!

Bottle from beershop.hr, shared with heavy. Poured a red-brown body with a small off white head. Lemon and ginger in the nose, mostly ginger and quite nice too. The taste is ginger assault again, thought that Old Tom would show more but it doesn’t really. Soapy, ending bitter, Schweppes-like. Ends with a nice ginger burn, maybe a bit too much for a beer but who cares. Not much else though.

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with some red tinges and a foamy head. Ginger and black pepper feature in the aroma. Warming taste with ginger and caramel. The finish is warming with a ginger kick that lingers. Something tells me that I shouldn’t like this, but I do!

Bottled 330ml. -from www.beershop.hr
Cola coloured, small off-white head, ginger nose. Looks like coca cola, tastes like coca cola with ginger. Peppery ginger finish. According to back label this is a mixture of Robinsons Old Tom and Fentimans Ginger Beer. Few years ago I’ve found Fentimans Ginger somewhere in London, and it tasted so awful that I couldn’t finish it. Just for the record, I like ginger.

Dark amber color. Citrusy soap aroma, dish washing product. Sweetish caramel flavor, with some citrus (and soap) presence; at least in the final there is a pleasant ginger tickling feeling on the back of the throat. The aroma is disappointing, the flavor is bearable, better than most ginger beers.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has strong notes of ginger as well as medium notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of ginger and light notes of caramel and malt in the back ground, leading to a dry ginger finish. A bit too much ginger for my liking.
