A special version of the Öö Baltic porter, brewed with blackcurrants.

Taste: On the palate is an explosion of dark fruits - blackcurrants, cranberries, plums, even dates. A sharp tartness comes through, followed by some delicate tannins, dark chocolates, and just a hint of warming alcohol. Coffee, toffee, and plums finally come through, all balanced by a rich malty body.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thin beige head. Low carbonation. Aroma of dark chocolate and blueberries. Flavour of sour plums and dark chocolate. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Boozy and tangy. It’s good but a touch sharp for me to love it. I hoped this would be similar to Omnipollo’s Anagram, but it falls short.

Bottle picked up from Bierkiste München and consumed at home Saturday 25th November 2023 listening to Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on 6Music. We had Pork with Mushrooms, Oloroso Sherry and Crème Fraiche for tea. Pours black with a tan head, you can pickup subtle hints of blackcurrant on the nose, in the mouth they provide quite a tang against the dark roasty bite and dark bitter chocolate. I like this.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - very deep purple to black or brown. No head. Nose - blackcurrant and blackcurrant leaf, for sure. Taste - sweet blackcurrant and cherry. Also cherry lozenge throat sweets. Palate - medium bodied, sweet and tangy middle and finish. Overall - fun, but Where's the malt and hops.

Bottle shared by Sladkyna zla. Medium body, medium carbonation. Med-high bitterness, roasty mostly, cocoa, less coffee. Light sweetness. Med-light blackcurrant, which adds med-light sourness and light tartness. Overall kinda good, I guess a cassis impy is a weird decision, but okay.
