Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

4 oz pour on draft (2014) at ChurchKey during the 22 years of Avery event. Black with light tan head. Aromas of roasted coffee, chocolate, light booze. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel. Full body with a dry and slightly warm finish. Somewhat oily syrupy mouthfeel. Good but not really my favorite type of imperial stout.

Riktigt gott.

Bigger tasting at Ronny’s flat, Copenhagen. Almost clear very dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and light and has fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts and mild dark chocolate. Alcohol spicy finish. Amazed I’ve never had this but then it was a bit (just a bit) of a let down.

Bomber courtesy of rlgk. Pours pale black with a small creamy beige head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and tiny fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark bread, pears, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, moist soil and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and malty. Mouthfeel is soft, round, velvety and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and tiny bitter with roasted malts, dark bread, caramel, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate and moist soil. Solid but fairly dull impy affair.
