On tap in Tokyo. Pours a clear golden hue with a medium white head. A light grainy nose. Not a great flavor, husky sweet malts, akin to glue, some toast. Light citrus.

Keg at pub Edo. Very clear pale blond colour, not much head. Looks a bit watery. Aroma but cream not much. Bit of wheat. Taste not much bit minerals, bit wheat. Very crisp. Ok but not as interesting as it sounded. Ok though.

Tap @ Furusatomatsuri (18.01.2018). Golden yellow pour, clear and with nice white bubbles on the top. Light nondescript nose, soft rice feel to it, no acidity. Tastes creamy some rice sweetness there, definitely something that can be drunk quickly. Personally i am not the biggest fan of rice lagers but this one is done well. If you want want to understand the style, try this. Light fizz in the finish, super low bitterness, creamy and soft again.

On tap at Bungalow, Kyoto. Pours clear golden with white head. Malty, grainy, light bodied, bit watery. Vague hop aroma. Meh.

Tap at iBeer in Hikarie. Mostly clear gold with a nice fluffy white head. Aromas of honey, flowers and rice. Taste is more of the same but overly sweet. Medium body with average carbonation. Not bad, but too sweet for me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Koshinomai Koshihikari Jikomi Beer on 03 Aug 2015 at 20:01 - Score: 6

Part of their 3900 yen Rakuten Thank You Set. 5% A very light crisp, clear and refreshing lager. The label calls it a Golden Lager. The second time I had it was after drinking an IPA and it tasted much maltier with the rice clearly coming through and I felt it was more palatable.

Part of a 3900 yen Thank You Set direct from the Brewery via Rakuten. Horoyoi means tipsy and it is a very light crisp lager that is extremely drinkable. The pink label with a woman on it reinforces that this beer is intended for women. At 5% it would make a good session beer.

Draft at GJBF 2009, Osaka. Very thin, pale yellow color. Very well made. No need for the rice in this—just takes away from the beer, making it lighter than it should be. Some hop aroma in the nose, and a decent bitterness in the finish. Pretty well-hopped and quite well balanced, but too thin. Really well made, but too much rice.

Straw...with something like mold spores floating in it. Lots of green apple. Very soft carbonation and bland pale malts. Slight bit of dryness late. Odd brew.

I agree with Martin. Despite the fact this is a rice beer, it really showed a great malt backbone and balance that would go over well in Czech. Worth checking out.
