The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

A deep dark stout with a thick creamy brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light vanilla, alcohol warmth, light licorice, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of vanilla, coffee crisp, oily mouth feel, alcohol warmth, light licorice, very nice. On tap at Bar Lupulus.

Draught @ Aslan Depot. Dark brown, has some bitter chocolate, chocolate, vanilla, almond...kind of gets too overloaded with vanilla in the finish.

Appearance- oily, inky black, a small tan fizzy head, completely opaque. Looks pretty forbidding. Aroma- tons of coffee, roast malt, vanilla, dark chocolate biscuit, whisky fudge, dark rum, earthy roast malt, more vanilla, tiramisu. Taste- chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate fudge, vanilla sweetness, brownie, coffee, rum and other boozy hints, dark fruits, sweet vanilla finish. Vanilla ice cream with caramel and chocolate sauce. Thick, clingy and satisfying mouthfeel. Fantastic beer.

Can, 0.473l. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, nuts and vanilla. Pitch black color with thin creamy brown head. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, follows by coffee, chocolate, vanilla and licorice, mouthfeel is warm and mild spicy, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick creamy texture and lively carbonation in palate. I definitively need a break after drinking it...

Tap at Bishops Arms, Östersund. An astounding stout, that I must try again to verify the score. Beautiful vanilla, chocolate, no sourness. Awesome. Rerated. Did get some biscotti. Not as good as first time ( this time from bottle). 4.3 to 3.9
