Bottle 330ml (from Japan)
Dark brown color, small steady off-white head. Chocolaty, alcoholic, rye and soya sauce. Medium-bodied. Chocolate, alcohol and tartness. Some coffee, coffee beans. Maybe not aged so well, has some potential.

330 ml bottle from Tanakaya @ Mejiro. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Looks good, although the head doesn’t stay. Aroma is quite soft and subdued - there is still some roast and a bit of lactose. Taste is also quite soft, with a fuller roast palate and some bitter spikes coming through as well. Chocolate, cocoa, some bitter coffee. Some kind of soft, milky or lactose background stays throughout. Alcohol is well hidden, nice beer to sip. Well made - and not your usual imperial stout, this one has its own character.

On tap at the Kyoto Craft Beer Fest. Aged since 2011, I was quite impressed with Daisen G at the Kyoto Fest as I enjoyed both of their beers I tried there. It poured a great looking stout with a tan head. A creamy body, malt forward sweet then chocolate followed by a dry mild hoppy finish. Nice!

33 cl bottle, bottled 01/2011, BBE 01/2013
Aroma is smooth, really malty and somewhat sweet with cocoa and some caramel. Feels like a good doppelbock. Flavour is really malty and somewhat sweet with chocolate, some coffee and caramel. On blindtasting I would take this as a doppelbock. Very rich on chocolate, a bit too sweet but good.

Draught at GJBF, Osaka 2008. Special aged version. Said to be aged for 1 ½ years, and it tasted that way. Amazingly smooth, with mature, port-like aged tones. Strong, rich, and smoky. Medium sweetness with dark fruits, medium to strong roasted flavor. Excellent.

Deep brown with just the edges showing light. This brew is topped with a mid size, rocky tan head. Lightly roasted, dark fruits, molasses, and heavy malts. Flavor is a bit lighter than I was expecting. Malty, roasted, some molasses, and a bit chalky in the finish. Hides the 9%. Solid.

@ GJBF 2007. Light brown color with a thick head. Aroma is good, roasted malts, cocoa, caramel, dark fruits, but some grass was also in there which was a little distracting. Body was a little thin. Molasses, cocoa, sweet malts, roasted, raisins. Good stout, though a little lacking in the flavor.

Talk about going against the grain. Releasing an Imperial Stout just as temperatures hit 30 and humidity in the 90s. Love it. Dark brown color. Light brown head. Dark fruit, brownies, dark cherries dominate the nose. Med bodied with brownies, dark cherries, dark chocolate and oranges in the mouth. Lingering sweet brownies and cherries in the finish. Kinda reminded me of pouring liquid tooties rolls over some brownies.
