This ongoing barrel blend series is named Barn Owl, as a nod to the wise and exacting animal that keeps watch over the farmhouse. Released sporadically throughout the year, just as soon as we deem the barrels ripe for the picking, these beers will be one-off creations never to be replicated again.
No. 7 is the third of three fruit blends made from a Flemish red base that was aged for 2-3 years in oak barrels. It underwent a secondary fermentation with 300g per liter of raspberries. As a result, it is bursting with enormous jam and raspberry seed aromas. This sour ale is dry and puckering with lingering fruit tannins.

Bottle with KBL. Shitty brown-red color. Not pretty like #6. Big, deep raspberry nose, somewhat jammy despite the age. Very tart, sour, really, acidic. Gave me an immediate heartburn. Simpler than #6, rich raspberry is delightful though.

Appearence: hazy copper with a tan head Aroma: lots of raspberries with barrel and petrol notes (heh) Taste: very sour with raspberry with acetone notes, quite dry Overall: this beer definitely spent too much in barrels, it became too acidic with less raspberries character and too dry

Raspberry sort of colour, On the nose, just a big berry, some barrelly tartness. This is fairly tart, some light tannins, and a lot of berry, mostly raspberry. Really bright, tasty. Lots of tartness, but hey, great berry character.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep reddish color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and small amount of lacing. Aroma of oak and cherry notes with some tart raspberry notes is pleasant. Taste is a mix of oak and tart cherry notes with light acidic raspberry notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable mix of Flanders red and raspberry notes but I would have appreciated better without the acidic notes.

Bottle @ Mikkeller Aarhus, 5.5%. Unclear red with small head. Aroma is malt, raspberries, fruit, lemon and berries. Flavour is malt, raspberries, fruit, lemon, citric, sour, oak, wood, medium sweet and notes of acetone.

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Pours dark red with a fast fading offwhite head. Aroma of light sourness, lots of tart fruit, red berries, rich raspberry, oak. Flavor is rather sour, malt, oak, light vinegar, rich tart fruity, rich raspberry. Medium body, average carbonation, acidic finish. 080518

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Clear red brown with a quickly fading off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, heavy raspberries, tart and wood. Flavor is medium sweet and rather acidic. Dry and rather acidic finish. 080518
