One cannot truly understand the depth of the Czech Brewing philosophy until he/she has made it to the country and hook up with the greatest beer inspirations and personalities of the Czech Republic.
Back in November 2018, Our brewmaster was selected to be part of a Czech Republic Trade Mission hosted by the Czech American Embassy and Canadian Consulate Economic & Trade Sections. This trip was such a revelation and by far far one of our brewmaster‘s best beer trips ever.
Godspeed‘s fascination for the Czech Brewing philosophy and culture is growing day by day. This Tmavý Ležák 12º is only the begining of a long journey and friendship with the Czech brewing culture and people. We are now studying and sourcing some of the finest Czech raw materials for designing our new Czech Lagers made with the true Czech brewing philosophy.
We’ve never been that excited!

Very dark brown with ruby highlights under a tan head. Nice roasted malts but not to the extent of a stout, much more reserved. A hint of smoke, cocoa, and light zesty hops. Medium bodied with just a little creaminess. Flavor is bittersweet cocoa, lightly roasted malt, spicy hops notes. Finish has the hops and roasted malt. I really dig this.

This dark lager poured a deep black colour with a creamy, brown head. Medium lacing. Scents include smoke, glue, dark toast and a little coffee. First swig was creamy and delicious. Soft mouthfeel, flavours of roasted malts, coffee and dark cocoa. Finish is burnt and lightly sweet with coffee flavours lingering.

Lovely chestnut color. Dry nose with noble hops, nice earthiness with milk chocolate and a touch of dry dog food. Modestly bitterness. Dry, great malt character. Dry bitter finish with lingering chocolate notes

Tap at the brewery. Pitch black, shiny, with a tall beige head. Bready malt nose, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Creamy, medium roasty, chocolate, bready. Very smooth and rich, just a bit of sweetness and a dry finish. Excellent.
