Eis is the German word for Ice. A former distillation process in making Eis Beer would be to freeze it, remove the ice, and collect what remained.
While today’s beer, like Eis Maker, is no longer produced this way, it is used as a connotation that the beer is very strong.
You will find this Eis Bock to be sweet, malty and boozy with notes of raisin, dark fruit and similar profile of a barley wine.

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: dark mahogany to dark purple color with a quarter finger's worth of white foamy head which tapered off at a nice pace and barely left any lace
Aroma: caramel sweetness; bourbon sweetness, sweet wood, molasses, dark fruits and some vanilla
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a variety of different sweet tones; finishes the same way with a little bit of stickiness
Texture: medium bodied, great sipper and some alcohol warmth but not too distracting; light smoothness but also some stickiness but as far as I know there's almost always going to be some degree of stickiness in Eisbocks (though I haven't had many of this style)
Overall: well, I liked this one for me and would welcome it again and as far as I know good for the style.

Undated bottle drunk 11/28/22. Clear amber. Beige head is medium-sized and well-retained. Thick, rich, vanilla-and-caramel-heavy malt in the nose with little bourbon. Rich malt, moderately thick texture (could be thicker for its size). Good acidity though still kinda thin and watery for 13%. Could believe this was 7%, which should not be a thing at this size. A shame, since the malt is great. Bourbon is pretty thin, though, as well. Yeah, just too watery. Nose almost gets there, with spicy bourbon and rich caramel, but it just doesnt deliver on the flavor.

A good friend of mine who lives near brewery grabbed this for a few years back and we finally met up to get. Plum copper colored small head. Still some carbonation. Nose is dark fruits, bourbon and caramel. Tastes of fig, raisin, caramel, bourbon, molasses, wood. Semi sweet.a nice brew soft palate. Some boozy warming.

Tap at the Beer Hall. Muddy brown, flat. Nose is bourbon, toffee, vanilla. Sweet as hell, with lots of toffee and bourbon. Flat and oily body, but smooth and silky. A bit dirty in the finish. Interesting but I expected more from this.

Draught @ City Hops. Clear dark red brown with small frothy beige head, woodsy caramel malt aroma with some alcohol, low carbonation, sweet woodsy caramel malt taste, very mild bitterness with molasses, raisin and dark fruits, thin body, long boozy finish. Nice potent brew, like a fruity barley wine.

Pours hazy deep amber into a shaker. Bright white soapy head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Dark caramel and pit fruit aromas. Slick with dry hot caramel upfront turning to bourbon, vanilla and pit fruit in the hot, lasting finish.
