Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light coffee, some earth, a touch of toffee and caramelised sugars and a big dose of nuts. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour coupled with nuts and a good deal of earth and caramel, but no coffee nor roasted flavours are noticeable, just some very mellow hop notes and a good deal of caramel and grain. Aftertaste is deep and malty with a big bite of caramel and toffee on the end with some crisp grains and a touch of apple and pear, fruit-based sugars towards the very end. Overall, a decent enough beer, but definitely not well-rounded enough to make this a good beer or one worth trying. This had some decent flavours and it being a lager means it's even more special and nice, but that's about it - it was good to try, especially if you like schwarz's or if you like the robust caramel and toffee notes that are vibrant here. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 23-January-2018 for US$1,83 sampled at home in Washington on 09-June-2018.

12 oz. bottle.
AROMA: Scents of coffee, toffee, and caramel
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a tan head that dissipates slowly.
TASTE: Medium-sweet with flavors of dark coffee and roasted malt.
PALATE: Full-bodied with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. Finish is dry with a touch of sweetness.
OVERALL: Smooth and sweet (but not overly sweet) with a nice mouth feel. I thoroughly enjoyed this. And with its low-ish alcohol content, I'll probably enjoy a few more right after I finish this one. :)

Clear very dark mahogany color with a small beige head and good retention. Good lacing. Strong black coffee nose. Black coffee flavor on a smooth dark lager base beer. I guess it's good if you like coffee. I don't.

Slight coffee aroma. Pours black with a thin head. Smooth taste, almost like a porter that has hints of coffee and a smokey element. Good, well-crafted beer.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha head quickly recedes to mottle surface. Capuccino aromas. Medium bodied with charred coffee and caramel upfront with a dry lasting espresso finish. I like Schwartzbier and I like coffee.

Bottle from Hegedorns, 6 lager pack. Big coffee nose, dark chocolate. Sweet chocolate, very creamy, cafe au lait. Pitch black with a tight tan head. Mostly coffee, but decent enough.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The stomach was coffee, vanilla cream and faint floral hops. The flavor was bitter and roasty with notes of wood and coffee. Long finish. Medium body.

How about cofman repeating the description over and over again below, just like a fricken untapped dude. Go back to untppd dude. But anyway, this beer is big and black, schartz. Smooth black beer nose. Taste is yes, seems more like a schrawtz, not like a coffee. There is some coffee in there but its not in yer face like so many coffee beers. Its civilized and well balanced, the coffee does not affect the overall pleasure of the beer. Decent. Civilized. Easy on the palate, thanks sammy.
