Frank & Vrij translates as a figure of speech as ‘free-and-easy’ that’s what ‘Vermont’ by association brought to our minds. Not as hazy as you might expect…but hey...ish. The smell is intensive grassy and fruity with makes you want to take another sniff before taking the next step (promised). Flavourful to the max. One for the books, this Vermouth IPA turned out great! Full of fruit, smooth mouth feel, soft bitter finish. Simply a delicious enjoyment. Like the translation of the name: free-and-easy. p.s fyi: the small ‘2’ on the label is because we made a small batch of Frank & Vrij a long, long time ago. Different beer, but same name.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is fruity hops, sweetish tropical fruits, plenty of grapefruit, malt, ripe orange. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium. Nicely juicy aroma, flavour is rather sweet, very fruity hoppy IPA, very enjoyable.

Hackney Bottleshare. Thanks to Mr Tipple. Light haze in this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth with modest carbonation. Soft malts, sweetish, a trace of grain. Sweetish floral mid. Smooth pine. A little sweet citrus, orangey - lemon. Smooth finish. Quite sweet, but pleasant and drinkable.

Bottle from St Albans beer shop, St Albans, Herts. A hazy dark golden/orange coloured pour with a huge white head on top. Sweet, orange and various tropical fruits on the nose. Tastes very sweet, tropical fruit, orange, pineapple. Reasonably good but I expected more from De Molen.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to tipple. Pours mostly clear gold-orange with a frothy, white head. Rindy citrus in the nose, some crackers, melon, white grape. Medium sweet flavour with more white grape, crackery pale malts, low piney bitterness. medium bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, gooey and resinous, more pine, melon, jammy citrus. Nice one.
