Golden coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall pure white head that leaves a very nice lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma of fresh grassy and herbal hops with a very light, but noticeable malt scent along with perhaps the most noticeable - a light but pungent yeast strain. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavours at first with grassy and slightly piney notes, also showing some light tropical fruit notes and a very small amount of malt and yeast, both. Aftertaste shows some light caster sugar and fruity sweetness along with some light malts and only a touch of hops, which were more noticeable before. Overall, a decent beer - better than most Kirin beers of course, and showing some more complexities than beers from the East, but in the grand scheme, this isn’t a good beer. Nice to try, especially over on this side of the world to not carry it home and not pay the excessive fees if it’s available in the states. I sampled this stubby 33 cL bottle purchased from 7-11 in central Taipei, Taiwan next door to my hotel for NT$65 on 23-July-2017 sampled the next day in my hotel room here in Taipei, Taiwan on 24-July-2017.

I think I will buck this low rating trend and be the highest rater of it, perhaps as I drunk it from the bottle at lunch today. I hadn’t seen this before a Belgian Inspired Grand Kirin rainy season beer. I found it at Misugiya supermarket by Kyoto City Hall. Drunk from the bottle the nose has a bit of fruity hops and earthy Belgian funk. The carbonation is more aggressive than your average Kirin. The taste is a touch of wheat, some fruity hops, a rough earthiness and a very slight touch of funk. Not terrible but too highly carbonated for me. I am getting gassy... I was impressed to detect some saison yeast type elements.

Bottle from the supermarket. Nose is rather plain, honey malts, bread, light citrus hops, touch of cat piss, bit of yeasty esters and spice, light coriander. Deep gold with a tall, thick head. Body is thin and soapy, flavor is rather dull. Some citrus, rather astringent, touch of cardboard, coriander flavor is very light. Soapy, thin body. Nothing horrible about it, but nothing that would make me want another either. Slightly unpleasant bitterness. Seems oxidized although it is very fresh. Dry.
