Bottle, 10C. Copper with an inch of light beige head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of kumquats, grapefruit, pine, caramel. A bit earthy, just a suggestion of booze. Creamy texture, medium carbonation. Very sweet with loads of caramel melding into kumquats, grapefruit. earthy woody flavours. Slight onion. Big resinous bitter finish oozes through. Doesn’t dry out much at all, which is a shame of the order of .2 -.3.Still, good stuff.

Deep Amber color. Touch of bourbon sweet maltiness with fairly aggressive hops underneath. Big thick body with lots of hops, and massive malt backbone with tons of caramel and bourbon. Slightly boozy, but great.

Bottle: Poured a dark copper color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of oak with some residual sugar notes and strong hoppy notes of citrus and earthy notes. Taste is also dominated by oak notes with plenty of residual sugars and strong hoppy notes with light oak in the finish. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Good stuff overall and very enjoyable beer.

Bottle on the hotel patio, SD, from Liberty Station 14/11/14. Rich amber/chestnut brown with a decent light beige covering. Nose is sweet, candied fruit peel, orange peel, pine, toffee, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises cantaloupe melon, pine needles, candied orange peel, light spice, bitter red grapefruit. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet licks and a touch of warming alcohol. Solid hoppy strong.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/20/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around that glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, floral, grass, oak, light vanilla, and floral/oak earthiness. Incredible aromas with great balance and complexity of big citrus/tropical hops, moderate dark malt sweetness, and oak notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, floral, grass, oak, light vanilla, and floral/oak earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, oak, and floral/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and balance of big citrus/tropical hops, dark/bready malt, and moderate oak flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an fantastic blended strong ale style. All around awesome complexity and balance of big citrus/tropical hops, dark/bready malt, and moderate oak flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
