Tap at Gremlin. Nice. Can feel the booze a little. Has a kind of tickly feel. Quite delicate taste behind the booze, like house ipa but with a bit of pineapple and minerals. Would like to try it again.

Keg at Cract Heads - Tokey. Pours clear, rich gold with a lasting, creamy head. Rich, ripening citrus on the nose, some pine, papaya, mango. Medium sweet flavour with steadying bready malts, more ripening orange, piney bitterness, rich mango and papaya, a little booze. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Resinous in the finish with some pleasant piney dankness, alcohol warmth, light bread, grass and pine, more papaya, tangerine. Great robust DIPA.

Beau’s Two Tons of Fun was a barleywine made with 2 tons of malt and now Shiga Kogen jumped into this extreme malt game by using 1 ton of malt to brew a Double IPA.

A cloudy copper gold with a filmy beige head and a fantastically fruity hop bouquet with a touch of dank and pine as well while the malts provide sweet caramel and some boozy heat.

Full bodied, round carbonation with a semi-sweet finish. The taste on this is great, loads of classic hoppiness (pine bark, woodsy, citrus/orange/biwa) then the ton of malts give the counterbalancing sweetness.

Another big winner from Shiga Kogen. I got lucky finding a bottle as most places are already sold out and few still have it one tap though I think I heard Yellow Ape had some as of 2 days ago...

Bottle from Yamaoka. Nowhere left on tap in the whole nation, it seems. Big juicy fruit nose, lots of stone fruit, some tropical, some citrus. Slightly sugary, biscuity malt. Deep orange, cloudy, with a low, lacy head. Rich fruity flavor, malty, medium sweetness, strong bitterness. Rather spicy, peppery finish, lots of apricot, orange, some mango and pineapple. This is good. Not too sweet, not too syrupy, crisp and bitter finish. Too boozy, for sure, although that helps to balance. Better with a little time. Great.

lots of stone fruit and apricot nose. Full body rich smooth. Malty, slightly boozy with some dried peach in the finish. Too strong, not that smooth but ok malty imperial IPA

Pours deep orange, slight haze. Nice foam that comes down and leaves some beautiful lacings. Aroma is sweet, honey and ripe tropical fruits. Papaya, mango and strawberries. Slight herbal edge hidden underneath the fruity sweetness. Taste is harsh, at first. This is a huge hop bomb, even considering that insane amount of malts that they have used here. Bitterness is high, herbal, grassy and just extremely bitter. Body is thick but is still overshadowed by the hop additions. What it means is that this high gravity beer ends up bitterly dry, sweetness is gone, feeling almost unbalanced to the hoppy side. Bitterness lingers on also in the aftertaste, long and medicinal. Overall, this double IPA is great for your hop fix, superb if you like harsh hoppiness. I do.
