AB:21 is a liquorice and blackcurrant infused imperial stout. Rolling in at an imposing 12% ABV, this huge and decadent dark beer dials down the charred roastiness and focuses instead on the rich, full-bodied chocolate and dark fruit character of the style.

The addition of blackcurrant enhances the dark fruit aspect of our latest concept beer, while the liquorice brings flavours of aniseed and treacle. A brandy-like warmth replaces roast malt as the backbone of this complex brew.

ABV: 12%
OG: 1150
IBU: 50
Malts: Brown, Extra Pale, Flaked Oats
Hops: Bramling X, Galena
Style: Stout / Porter

[9/23/16] Draught sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2016 in Bodegraven. Day one. Black with a tan head. Big licorice aroma. Sweet and bitter flavor, a bit tart, with lots of licorice, roast, alcohol. Way over the top with licorice and alcohol.

Draft at Borefts 2016, Day 1. Clear brown with a ring beige head. Aroma of massive massive aniseed, huge licorice and some caramel behind. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Not my thing at all. [23-09-2016]

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2016, Day 2. Clear autumnal red-brown color, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, lightly (Dutch) "hopjesvla", marshmallow, some kind of sweetness I dislike. I had higher hopes for this one. Not bad though, pretty sure a lot of people will love this.

At Borefts 2016. thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours dark brown, smell is what I’ve seen as marzepin, but turns out to be liquorice ( 2 tastes I don’t appreciate and seemed to have mixed up ) . taste is intense, bit bitter, some sweetness the marzepin ( so -liquorice , probably )

Draft @ Borefts 2016. Shared with RB Belgian crew.
