This barley wine is a blend of multiple batches of beer, which were aged in different spirits oak barrels.
Its complex aroma of oak, dark and sweet caramel, vanilla, coconut, cacao, roast, dark fruits and berries is a product of a complex brewing combined with the long maturation time and in the end of time spent in oak barrels. It will cellar very good, but do not go into decades of ageing..It is a sipper and perfect to share on a special occasion.

Bottle from Drinkshop. Aroma lots of dried fruits, my favourite coconut, caramel, strength coming through. Lightly hazy dark brown colour. Taste is very smooth and complex, lots going on. Rich maltiness with caramel, chocolate, light roasted, strong dried fruits. Sherry. Surprisingly well attenuated, moderate body. Warming but not boozy at all. Delicious.

0.33 bottle from Ljubljana. Shared with Igor and lovely Anja. Dark, almost black, almost no head. Strong cherry barrel aroma, wood, spices, red fruits, alcohol, glue. Nuts, fruits, candy, alcohol bite in the finish, heavy on the barrel. Sweet. Dry. Full body, oily structure. Great!

330 ml waxed bottle from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee colored head.
Rich, complex aroma of sherry, bourbon, oak, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, dark and dried fruits, subtle coffee, alcohol.
Tastes of bourbon, oak, coconut, vanilla, cocoa, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, some sherry, some liquorice, booze.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes warm, boozy, a bit astringent, quite dry, roasty, with oak, cocoa, some coffee, subtle hops.

Very tasty! Complex, dense and quite boozy, but drinks smooth, alcohol isn’t as dominant as the ABV suggests. Great balance between various barrel notes and dark roasty, but also sweet notes. Clearly the best Barley Wine from Austria so far for me, on par with American examples and a new highlight by Bevog.

Bottled 330ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb, shared with Marko. Almost black coloured, medium sized beige head, alcohol and dried fruits in the nose. Sweet malty, dried fruits, caramel, notes of wood and port wine with noticable alcohol in the finish. Good brew but still not really worth of 12.50€ we paid for it. Also not suitable for hot summer days.

Barleywine Paperbag Series. Hagger Blend 0615 from Pivoteka Zagreb, shared with ogivlado. Daaaaark brown, almost black, off white head, went away relatively fast. Dry, full sweet maltiness, sticky, dark fruits, plum jam, light alcohol, vague soy sauce, slightly dusty. Quite nice really. Strong raisins in the taste, but not overbearing, silky mouthfeel, surrounded by a well integrated mild saltiness, sorta reminiscent of salmiakki, though, of course, far more balanced, caramelly. Vague alcohol flavor, but the warming effect is quite strong, making the decision to release it in the middle of summer baffling. Quite light, easy-going taste for the ABV all in all making it very, very drinkable for the strength. Pretty great all in all.
