A very nice dark beer. Aromas of burnt caramel, coffee and toast. Fulsome mouthfeel with a little sweetness. I could keep knocking this back.

330ml bottle while hearing the death of the Queen. Pours dark brown, off-white head. Sweet dark caramel nose. Flavoursome taste profile, good deep treacle and mild liquorice notes. Medium body. Decent.

Draft at Spring Valley Brewing, Kyoto. Near black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee and cocoa powder. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft in Sapporo, Japan. Pours black with limited foam. Aroma is coffee. Body is average, with limited carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet, some roasty bitterness. Finish is regular.

Tap at SVB Kyoto but made at the Shiga Kirin plant. I am guessing it is a schwarzbier. Why can they put the OG and FG, Brewer, ABV but not the style??? Wtf??? The Japanese tasting sheet says it has a latte aroma, I'd say it smells like a sweet stout dosed with chocolate syrup. The taste is rich chocolatey and has dry roasty chocolate notes. Brewed by Munenori Matsumoto I'd say it is the best of the "core"

Pours dark brown, not very foamy. Aroma has some cocoa, mainly dark roast, and also lots of coffee. taste is bringing out even more coffee, really a coffee bomb. Not much bitterness, some tartness even, Smells much sweeter than it actually is. Slight roast bitterness lingering in the finish. Pretty good actually, surprising.

Tap at the Daikanyama brew pub. Cloudy, almost black, with a fine head. Roasty chocolate nose, soy sauce, coffee. Quite rich. Sweet milk chocolate flavor, dark chocolate too, creamy, coffee. Decent.
