Asahi’s Double Yeast along with Sapporo’s White Belg are two beers generating curiosity among the beer community in Japan so I thought I’d give it a try. Served in a pilsner glass. The typical crystal clear deep gold macro lager look with a soapy white head of foam with ok lacing & staying power. The nose is a mixed of grassy and sugary sweet grains. Medium bodied with a fairly smooth mouthfeel. The taste is kind of flat, grassy, hay some light hop bitterness but it just seems to kind of suddenly stop to me - weird. A bit chalky in the finish with a decent aftertaste. Not terrible but not much more than OK either.

Can from Yamaya. Slightly fruity aroma, grassy, hay, citrus. Thin malts. Sweet, rich flavor, malty and smooth, biscuits, orange, peach, grass. I do get some esters and a smoothness not in their regular beers, possibly from the second yeast... Very smooth and silky body with rather low carbonation. Much better than Super Dry. Why include corn starch? Pretty good beer. Great palate. Nicely bitter finish.

350 ml can. Pours golden with a thick foamy head. Aroma - I smell a bit of bittering hops, some yeast character if I really let my imagination go - but more likely it’s actually not there. Taste is maybe a bit more mellow compared with usual Asahi, and it has a tad bit more body. Finish is short ad sharp, with some watery malt lingering for some extra minutes. Overall, not bad beer to drink after soaking in onsen, otherwise not too interesting.
