Cask at Old Bell, Derby. Pours a fairky dark brown with minimal off-white head. The aroma is mainly malts with a hint of nuts. In the mouth it is slightly bitter with flavours of cola, herbs and nuts. Later there are some spices, malts and traditional hops. Finish is quite bitter. This is decent – certainly plenty of flavour for its strength. As for style I would call it a session ESB - if there was such a thing !

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 1 June 2023. Medium brown in colour with a slight, off-white, head. Leafy hops, caramel, crisp malts, and a touch of fruitiness, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Handpull cask at the Queen Edith, Cambridge. Mahogany with a feisty reddish brown head. The head leaves lots of lacing as it dissipates. The aroma is light: black cheery, some cola, some malt. A light note of cooking herbs. There’s sweetness in the taste, but it’s not too malt led. There’s a sharp, earthy, fruity hope bitterness which has a cleansing, refreshing taste. Crisp clean finish with chocolate bitters and stone fruit in the aftertaste. Really nice cask bitter.
