Bottle @ Willems Grobbendonk. Pours Hazy deep red amber with a White head. Nutty and woody. Slight metal. Dark fruit and oak. Caramel. Vinous.

Many thanks for this Sour Red Brown Ale to tderoeck. Vintage 2009. I'm, lovin it. Zapach wina jakosciowego, drewno, wilgotne beczki i ziemistosc starej piwnicy. Brazowa ciemna barwa, prawie bez piany. Po przechyleniu kieliszka to piwo placze, Tworzy te same oleiste splywajace lzy na szkle. Doskonale winne, ocet winny, mnostwo mnostwo ciemnych i dzikich owocow, wisnie, porzeczki, jagody i maliny, a przede wszystklim ta fantastyczna cierpkosc zurawiny. Nawet drylowane sliwki mi sie kojarzyly. Fantastycznie winne i owocowe. Doskonale kwaskowe i wytrawne piwo, alkohol nieco wyczuwalny, slodycz niewielka a jak sie pojawia to automatycznie skontrowana dzikoscia i kwasowoscia. A ilez tu tanin jak w najlepszym Burgundzkim winie. Jedno z nielicznych piw Struise ktore jest az tak malo slodowe. Dletaego jest: One of The Best.

Botella 33 cl Cata Ratebeer Asturias XIII en el Kraken. 16-10-2017 (r144). Color negro intenso con espuma beige. Sabores acidos y maltas tostadas bien combinados. Toques de lactosas y especias. Cuerpo medio a intenso algo espumoso. Bastante buena, para repetir sin duda.

Gekocht op zondag 5-2-2017 in de Struise Beershop aan de Burg in Brugge tijdens het 10é Bruggse Bierfestival. En geproefd op 6-10-2017. Aardnon 2009 is een wazig donkerbruin biertje dat bij het uitschenken weinig bruinig schuim geeft met een gelijkmatige structuur. Het blijft niet al te sterk aan het glas kleven en slaat zeer snel neer tot er bijna niet meer van overblijft. Het aroma van Aardnon 2009 is karamel zoet en heeft ook iets van opgelegde krieken en koffiemout. Bij de allereerst smaaktest valt vooral het lichte azijnzurige gevoel op, verder is de smaak vooral zoet, met zoethout, een ferme toets hout en een klein jeneverhintje. In de mond geeft Aardnon 2009 een volmondinge smaak, is hij wat licht olie-achtig van textuur en normaal CO2 prikkelend. In zijn totaliteit is Aardnon 2009 een verwarmend biertje. De nasmaak vloeit uit en is zeer licht bitterig met ook nog wat zoethout, opgelegde kersen, veel hout en nog wat jenevertoets. Hier kan je mischien het best toch wat bij eten, de Margaux vaten van het Chateau Haut Breton Larigaudière hebben hier een grote invloed, de houtsmaak is geweldig sterk en stoort toch wat. Bottle picked up at the Old Schoolhouse, Flanders, consumed at home Monday 7th August 2017 in the company of Craig, Stella and the kids. This is a back to their brilliant best from Struise, having had a few rather average beers of late. Fruity, tangy, wonderfully zappy, dark sticky fruits, wonderful sourness, this is a superb beer. Bottle at home in garden, 6th August 17. Pours pretty much black. Aroma is tart, barrel, fruit. Taste is barrel, fruit, not as sour as I thought it would be, lots of wood, where’s the sour? More fruit, thick body, liquirce, almost like a sour stout, lots of Struiss characteristics. Good, but I expected more.
