Looking for a beer with a bit lighter alcohol content? (What? Why? Just kidding! We all enjoy a great-tasting beer with less alcohol so we can drink A LOT MORE of it!) Our brewers created Alpha Session Ale with the same big flavors as an IPA, but lower alcohol content… so you can drink more of them. I’m definitely not complaining about that...

Hopped with Simcoe, Citra and CTZ.

Bottle thanks to Bill. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong citrus, pine, and wheat. Medium mouth with nice citrus, light bitterness, pine. Very good.

Bottle. Cloudy pour with white head. Full bodied aroma, like an IPA, citrusy. Light bodied, some hop, little malt. Something of a thin finish. Still a fairly good ale.

Crystal clear golden coloured body with hardly a head at all - a touch of a white top, but not really a head. Aroma of water, light hops, citrus and pine - this one, you can tell, is very mild. Light-bodied; Nice fresh hop flavour with grass and herbs coupled with the tiniest malt flavour and a little caramel sweetness at the finish. Aftertaste shows a good hop flavour with not much else - not much malt (a good thing) and no real complexity - just a bunch of herbs and grassy flavours with the hops taking front and centre stage. Overall, a nice session beer with a good amount of hops that shows well - nice to sample! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Bottle Craft in San Diego, California yesterday on 06-June-2013 for US$2.10 sampled in my hotel room here in San Diego on 07-June-2013.

Shaker pint draft at Churchill’s Pub in San Marcos, California. The pour is a mostly clear golden orange with a smallish off white head. The aroma is floral leafy, paired with a bright grain cracker malt. The taste is resin dank floral hops right away, balanced nicely with the fresh lively cracker malt. Fresh clean crisp taste. The palate is light bodied, but in no way thin or watery. Super drinkable, liked this one quite a bit.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light gold. It looks like there’s a bit of haze in there, but it might be my imagination. Decent white head. Fine bubbles. Little lacing, decent retention. The aroma is crackery pale malt with lemon-pine-floral hops. It’s a nice, bright hop flavor. A tad lighter than I’d like, but it’s a minor complaint, and I’m probably expecting a bit much from a 3.8% abv beer. The taste is fresh and light. Just a touch of sugary malt sweetness but it’s dry and refreshing, overall. Good floral pine hop flavor in the taste. Carbonation is normal. Light on the palate. Solid session beer. I just wish that it was available year-round and a bit cheaper.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma of citrus, pine, and something a little like a cleaning product. Flavor is citrus, pine, caramel, a bit of metal. Light sweet, light bitter, bit of metal lingers to finish. Maybe I am just not digging the CTZ hops?

This beer pours a clear golden-yellow color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of herbal hops and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, zesty citrus and bready malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a lingering fruity hops aftertaste. Well-executed sessionable APA all around.

22oz bomber pours crystal clear gold with somewhat weak white head. The aroma offers up tangelo and lime mixed with spicy dank hops and then a touch of sweet maltiness. Smells yummy. The taste is big on flavor and follows suit with grapefruit and tangelo and some lime mixing together with and even level of hop flavor and hop bitterness.3.8% ABV, what? Could that be right? Behind the hops is a wafer thin ring of malt sweetness. Great refreshing and yet bold flavored summer brew. Dandy!
