Mocha beer in colour with a thick beige cream head. Roast coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. Deep flavours of roast malt, mocha in a velvety smooth body, bitter finish with lingering notes of roasted malts, caramel and coffee.

Cask at the Coronet JDW. Dark red/brown colour with small beige head. Aroma is roasty, touch of coffee, bit of chocolate. Taste is coffee bitter and some light chocolate. Some sweetness. Maybe like a cold milky sweet coffee. Ok, but nothing special really, and a touch thin.

Retro reviews from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; brown pour only a mild about of coffee and quite watery in mouth feel.

Cask @ Bennet’s Bar, Morningside, Edinburgh 160512
Chestnut brown, clear, frothy off white head, good lacing.
Aroma - dark caramel malts, soft coffee, bit of chocolate, no caley ’Deuchars’ malts
Taste - Dark caramel malts, soft light coffee, slight touch of Camp essence, touch of the caley malts but not that noticeable, some soft fruity malts, touch of bitter earthy hops
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body. Finish as main flavour, slight touch of bitter metal
Overall - One of the better beers from Caledonian

[Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading] Deep brown with a moderate off-white head and a slight fizz. The coffee is definitely there, but it’s quite muted; unlike many coffee beers it serves to enhance the mild roasted malts rather than dominate them. There’s a little underlying fruitiness. It’s a thoughtful, well balanced beer rather than the usual novelty artificially flavoured effort you get at the Wetherspoons fests - well done Caley, I enjoyed this. c9

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy, foam head. Dark, toasty bread aroma with some dry, roasty coffee. Light to medium sweet flavor, mild mocha, faint earth. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Semi-dry finish, lightly sweet with modest roast, bread, bland filter coffee, faint cocoa. Pretty meh. Started off well but faded quickly.
