750mL bottle at Akkurat, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of barnyard funk, with more of a floral quality than Blauw; there is some tart citrusy character and some horse blanket. Flavour brings out loads of barnyard funk, some faint leather, a little horse blanket, and some light floral notes. Not as complex as Blauw by a little, but extremely funky and quite floral. Very dry on the palate, with only slight tartness. Another world class gueuze here.

Slightly hazy orange golden colour, firm white head. Aroma of barn, wood, tart, fresh citrus, yoghurt and funk. Sour flavour, citrus, lactic acid, wood, astringent. Astringent finish, wood and citrus.
Lovely beer. Very drinkable, even while 9,5 years old. Bonus point given for the sheer joy of tasting it at it’s home.

Bottle shared at Mikkeller Bar after Day Two of the Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours hazy gold with a fine, white head. Plenty of grassy bitterness in there, lots of softened sourness. A touch musty. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. A bit of dough. Nice and smooth. Crisp, lightly biting sourness to finish. Great stuff.

Bottle at Akkurat (labeled as Akkurat’s Oude Geuze 50/50). Almost clear, orange liquid with minimal white head. Aroma of 3F funk (barnyard, light sweat), sweet orange peel, lemon and some light apple. Taste is dry and medium sour with nice balance and light funk. Light to medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Nice, but I prefer Blauw. Not as complex but nearly as balanced.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Looking more or less clear in the glass, dark golden in color, and completely without any head. The aroma is funky and barnyardish, with horse blanket and some lemony hints. A faint rubber touch pulls my score from 8 to 7 on aroma, but it’s more or less gone in the flavor, hence the 8. Nice funky flavor with some lemon, as well as horse blanket and barnyard, tart and medium bodied and pleasantly carbonated. A super-smooth and tasteful beer, that’s for sure. 111229

750ml bottle consumed at Akkurat. Pours a hazy, deep orange with some foamy, fading white head. Nose is wonderful, lots of citrus rind, lemon and grapefruit, tons of grass and hay, funky, band aid, some crab apple, white grape. Flavor is tart but not overly acidic, slightly medicinal, refreshing citrus, grapefruit, blood orange, lime, grass, hay, light leather, a little scallion, a distinct wormwood character. Tart, zesty, refreshing finish. Hasn’t aged too much. Drinking wonderfully right now.

750ml bottle at De Heeren van Liedekerke. Pours a hazy, deep gold with a thin, creamy white head. Nose is grassy, musty, funk, lemon rind, herbs. Very inviting. Funk and barnyard, cheese. All of that lovely brett nose while still quite approachable. Flavor is tart, herbal, musty, lemon rind, orange rind, cheese rind, flower pollen, grass. Really has the flavor of an earthy, grassy cheese rind. Full bodied, lightly tart, lightly acidic finish. Worth all the hype, a really special brew.

Bottle @ Stephen’s house, courtesy of skycracksopen. Thanks again! Cloudy orange appearance with an off white head. Quite funky, fairly floral, somewhat herbal, musty, tangy lemon, effervescent aroma. Refreshing, deliciously sour, quite cheesy, floral funky, earthy, dusty, musty flavor. Tons of must and cheese. Fuck yeah.

Bottle at Akkurat as 3 Fonteinen Akkurat’s Oude Geuze 50/50. It pours lightly hazy golden amber, with a thick white head. The nose is farmyard, cobwebs, musty, sharp lemon, grapefruit, something akin to vomit and hint of sweet honey. The taste is zesty lemon, grapefruit, citrus rind, farmyard, touch of blue cheese, metal, mouth-puckering tartness, rust, hay and underlying honey notes, with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A complex and challenging geuze. Interesting for sure, but doesn’t quite stand up to some of Armands other geuzes.

Bottle as 3 Fonteinen J & J Oude Geuze Roze, generously shared by The Cad at Mikkeller Bar. It pours hazy golden yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is rather soft: floral, funk, farmyard, lemon and medicinal notes. The taste is white and red grape, soft fruit, red apple, floral, lemon and hints of spice, with a dry, tart finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. A very good gueuze for sure, but I would opt for quite a few other 3 Fonteinen options above this.

750 ml bottle shared @ Akkurat. Pours hazy deep golden with a big fizzy slightly grayish white head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sour with horse blanket, leather, sweet grapes, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, hay, dusty barnyard, lemon zest, lemon grass, moist soil, unripe currants, earthy brett and hints of dusty oxidation. Taste is sour and earthy with grapefruit juice, green grapes, gooseberries, red currants, hay, moss, ripe apples and dry wood. Mouthfeel is tart, dry and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sour and tart with grapefruit juice, lemon zest, hay, barnyard and dry soil. Nothing too advanced. Just pure awesome! --- Beer aliased from original tick of Akkurat's Oude Geuze 50/50 on 23 Dec 2018 at 01:39 - Score: 9. Original review text: EB
