This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and pale beer aged on cherries. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour.

Picked this up for $10 at Hunger Mountain Co-Op in Montpelier Vermont. Stuck it in the fridge and poured into a Champagne Flute. Best by 08/2020
A - Out of the bottle, this was a light red to purple color. In the glass, it looks like dark grapes very purple. Against the light, you see a dark red color. 2 Finger- normal head on the pour and dissipated quickly.
S - Mild black cherries, Tart and sour as well. Earthiness to this beer and very light malts. Overall, a very weak nose.
T - Very rotten cherry taste. Mild tartness but not much really going on. Very sweet almost too much.
M - High carbonation, light body.
O - t’s technically a Kriek but, for the price and against others like 3F, Cantillon and even Lindeman’s, it’s

375 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours dark brownish red with a small pinkish white head that quickly dissipates while leaving no trace. Smell is sweet and sour with cherries, raspberries, vinegar, viola pastilles, burnt sugar and wood. Taste is sour and slightly sweet with cherries, wood, minerals, raspberries, wild strawberries, burnt sugar and hints of barnyard and hay. Mouthfeel is dry and medium bodied. Finish is dry and rather tart with an artificial cherry flavour. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kriek Brut on 27 Jan 2015 at 20:19 - Score: 8. Original review text: Classic!

Small airy head, quickly diminishing. Cherry aroma popped right out of the bottle. Dark cherry colour, hazy. Aroma of wild yeasts, strong but perfectly intertwined cherries. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter, medium to heavy acidic. Pleasant light acidic finish. Cherries all the way through. Some may be annoyed by the strong and ever present cherry flavour, but that is ok with me.

A wire cradle and a cork at the top of a compact, dark green 375ml bottle, wrapped in red paper. Pours a beige head with a pink shade, and a dark-red body. Aroma of cherries and earthy malts. Sweet and tart blended taste of fresh cherry fruits and malts, a mild hint of almond, too. Tart-sweet-dry ending. Soft in the mouth. Medium bodied. Very refreshing. 375 ml bottle, shared. 2010 "vintage" from the cork. Clear, deep red-brown clour with a small, light pink head. Sweet aroma with cherry syrup, oak and vanilla cookies. Taste has mild sour note from the cherries, light cherry juice, dry malts ad sweet oak. Smooth, flat mouthfeel not a terribly complex beer but a pretty tasty cherry beer.

Fruity, a bit stinging smell. Dark brown-reddish colour with beige or rosy head. Strong cherry flavour, a hint of banana also. Some apple to be found. Sour, also lightly sweet. Smell is displeasant, but taste is very good.

375 ml green corked and caged "champagne" bottle, wrapped in red paper, as Liefmans Cuvée Brut, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Dark red beer, large pinkish-peachy head. Strong and intense aroma of cherries, also notes of almonds and marzipan. The flavour is cherries all the way, medium sweet, not "brut" by any stretch of the mind. At least it is somewhat drier than Liefmans Fruitesse. Just a hint of hops and oak in the finish. Quite good, if you like cherries (and who doesn’t?), and don’t expect a "normal" beer flavour.

750 ml corked and caged bottle wrapped in red paper. 2010 vintage. Series of Sours leading up to rating #800; this is the first of three. Pours a hazy plum color with a large pinkish-white head with excellent retention; leaves nice lace. Aroma is so sour it makes my mouth water before I even take a sip. Taste is nice and tart, lightly sweet with a dry finish. Highly carbonated with a creamy mouthfeel. Tasty, fo sho.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; 2015 vintage bottling, best before 2/2025. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/juicy cherries, fruit skin, raspberry, peach, plum, pear, red/green apple, red grape/wine, almond, hay, straw, grass, oak, caramel, brown sugar, and bread; with light notes of oaken vanilla, pepper, leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherries, fruity/light funky yeast, oak, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/juicy cherries, fruit skin, raspberry, peach, plum, pear, red/green apple, red grape/wine, almond, hay, straw, grass, oak, caramel, brown sugar, and bread; with light notes of oaken vanilla, pepper, leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/juicy cherries, fruit skin, raspberry, peach, plum, pear, red/green apple, red grape/wine, almond, hay, straw, grass, oak, caramel, brown sugar, bread, pepper, light vanilla/funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/light funky yeast, oak, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, fairly crisp, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is an excellent kriek. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/light funky yeast, oak, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Was expecting this to be a lot more sour than it was, but it was still delicious. More of a sweeter kriek style. Huge amounts of authentic cherry flavors; with balanced yeast, oak, and sweet malt complexities. Not much funk. A very enjoyable offering.
