65 cl bottle @ Fonefan, thanks! Aroma has sweet cocoa tones, some whiskey sweetness and mild licorice tones. Flavour has sweet whiskey tones, peat, vanilla, licorice and mild rubbery tones. Quite thin for the specifications, still I like the sweet vanilla and cocoa here. Whisky and alcohol are too sharp at the end of the glass though - and this feels too sweet too, drinkability is not that great anymore.

On tap at the tap room. A black beer with a small, tan head. The aroma has a nice bourbon touch, roasted malts, dark sugar, some coffee and dark chocolate and a hoppy touch. It’s full bodied, warm and smooth on the palate, with a nice booze touch and lots of roasted malt flavors. Dark sugar and chocolate and a nice bitterness. Lasting roasted and light boozy finish. Lovely. 150616

Bottle from alwcordell. Pours opaque black, medium dark brown head that dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is bourbon, roasty, cocoa, vanilla, anise. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, lots of oak, bourbon, roast, a touch of anise, some molasses. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Not harsh like some PVW aged beers can be. A bit hot and boozy. Solid.

22 oz. bottle thanks to Willrunforbeer. 2013 vintage. No head on the opaque black liquid. Aroma is subtle vanilla, smooth bourbon, mild oak, and burnt molasses.
The bourbon is layered and mellow. Oak, vanilla, lingering burnt sugar, a mild rye whiskey malt hint that really helps round out the flavor. The spicy hint in the finish really helps integrate the stout character really nicely. Great oak character that is the Pappy barrel. Damn fine!

Sample at the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room. Inky black color with a medium thin khaki head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Bourbon, roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, chocolate malt and raisins, with a hint of banana. The finish is dark chocolate and bourbon. Another good entry in the BORIS series.
