Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains and bourbon with a bit of roast supporting. Flavor combines sweet dark grain with bourbon, has a touch of vanilla and roasted malt underlying.

Sample from bottle #43/532 during the Dark Lord Dia-beetus 2017 tasting on 10/28/2017. Pitch black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, dark fruit, malt and anise. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky red wine, roast malt, black licorice and spice. The finish is oaky with a wine and roast malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is vinous, oak, spice. Medium body, spice, oak, nice sweetness, boozy finish, very good.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a small brown foamy head. Aroma of black chocolates malt with light roasted malt and plenty of residual sugar from the Sauterne barrels. Taste is also asset mix of black chocolate with some light roasted malt and nice sauterne notes with plenty of residual sugar notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Nice drinkability with just the right level of complexity – I would love to have this on a more regular basis.

Enjoyed on tap at Kaiser Tiger in Chicago, IL waiting to try out some Dark Lord. Appearance is pitch black, cola like, thin white rim. Aroma is rich in brandy, chocolate, oak, smells great. Taste is pretty good, not knock your socks off good like the non-barrel aged, but good nonetheless .
