An Imperial Stout put it in the hands of six brewers, each with a unique plan for the end product. That’s Six Ways! Magnus’ way is a double fermented fantasy with a coffee end of reality. Dessert’s served!
When Magnus got to play around with the Six Ways Imperial Stout he whipped out a variety that had been lying in the back of his head for a while. He wanted to make a beer that was strong, sweet and dense, not to mention pitch black, and which had crazy amounts of coffee in it. A beer to be shared among friends and enjoyed in small sips. It took some tweaking, especially to get the second fermentation with Belgian yeast right, but in the end we got there!

Bottled. Pitch black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Cold old coffee in the aroma. Flavour is roasted, some chocolate and quite rich on the coffee. Alcohol shows, but doesn't ruin the brew. Good one, and a nice roasted aftertaste.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up online. Pours deep brown with a thin, fizzy tan head. Rich and sweet, lots of gooey chocolate, sugary mocha, coffee ice cream, moderate roast, nips of bitter ash, torched marshmallows, vanilla. Medium to full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, a little sticky, more thick chocolate, mellow roast, rich and well sweetened coffee. Good stuff.

330 ml bottle from Beergium, bb 07-04-2019.
Pitch black body, with a small, dense, dissipating, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of coffee beans, espresso, dark chocolate, brown sugar, some vanilla, some dark fruits.
Tastes of espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice, tobacco, some dark fruits, booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes warm, roasty-bitter, medium dry, wooden, with coffee, liquorice, tobacco, dark chocolate.
Tasty. Heavy and quite boozy, but not too overpowering for the high ABV. Lovely coffee notes throughout, which aren’t too dominant, leaving room for complex roasty and enough sweet notes. Overall not my favourite Dugges Imperial Stout, but great, expressive stuff nonetheless.

Bottled 330ml (Beergium)
Opaque black color, small brownish head. Lots of cold coffee in the nose. Some sweetish licorice and roastyness. Full-bodied. Sweetish licorice, roastyness, coffee and alcohol. Very robust coffee stout. High drinkability even with 13.5%. Very good sipper.

Pitch black pour with a nice tan head that is slow to rise. Notes of roasted coffee as well as brewed coffee, coffee liquor, toffee, cognac, chocolate, coffee biscuits, vanilla, lactose, cocoa powder. Full body, low carbonation and a roasty coffee-forward finish. Quite an imperial stout, reminds me of Prairie’s Bomb! for some reason.
