White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer.

We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character.

At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

500ml bottle from Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Clear golden colour, big frothy white foam head and fruity aroma with mango notes. Taste is malty, bready, dried fruits, earthy, spice, hop resins and lingering bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, earthy peppery hop bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle drank during a visit to Durham. Pours a hazy gold colour, with a just off white head. Hoppy, floral aroma with hint of grapefruit, and nice level of bitterness to finish.

Bottle at Pibar, Lausanne
Hazy blond color with generous head. Mild aroma of malt and English yeast. Blond ale, smooth, with a strange ashy feeling; strong yeasty presence and strong hard bitterness.
Not a good idea.

Bottled 500ml @Beer Hunters
Slightly hazy golden color, small white head, some lace. Flowery, fruity-yeasty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Fruity, "flowery" hoppyness, long lingering bitterness. Nice. Ok malt profile. I am pretty sure that beer 200 years ago didn’t taste anything like this.

Bottle. Aroma: intensive, very fruity (mango), resin, some alcohol. Light amber colour, thick white head. Very bitter. Medium body, lively carbonation. Interesting, but I don’t like the harsh bitterness.

Bottle: Deep golden, hazy, visible carbonation causing a big and stable rocky white head, sweetish and tart aromas of dried fruits, some grains underneath, citric hoppy traces plus alcohol underneath; robust bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, pretty tart; lingering, but harsh and alcoholic grainy-bitter finish. Still good, but all in all disappointing…
