White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer.

We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character.

At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

500ml bottle from Durham Market Hall Wines, BB 30th August 2024. Golden body, white head. Grassy, herbal and malty, yet also semi-bitter in the finish. First beer from this brewery I didn't really take too! This was my 12th from Durham Brewery.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of dried herbs and stressed yeast. Woody taste, gluey in fact. Didnt enjoy that at all.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Pale amber with a soft haze. Thick and lasting, dense, just off white foam. Nose has spicy rye. Peppery herb. Bramble type fruit. Some sweet ripe lemon. Taste has a spicy biscuit sweetness. Moderate bitterness is herbal and leafy. Smooth mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Lingering moderate bitterness to finish. Great stuff. Perfect nick, too.

500 ml bottle conditioned, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.2%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, large white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops on a sweetish malty background. Medium sweet flavour, distinctly malty, but also with strong hoppy notes and a resinous and bitter finish. The alcohol is evident, and I’d easily believe that the beer was even stronger than it actually is. American Columbus hops are hardly part of a trustworthy "re-creation of the White Stout style", but never mind the name - this is a decent and quite enjoyable strong ale, more American than English in its character.

Tap in Austria. Pretty clear deep golden pour, white medium head with decent retention. Nose: pretty flat, hints of sweet maltiness. Mouth: goes pretty sweet, malty...bitter overall.
