Montmorency vs. Balaton is our barrel-aged wild ale re-fermented with Montmorency and Balaton cherries. These distinct cherry varieties that are sourced from our friends at King Orchards in Michigan lend their own unique flavor to the final beer. We create a blend of mature barrel-aged beer, add the cherries at a very high ratio (5lb. per gallon), then let the fruit re-ferment to total dryness. To us, we feel "MvB" has a perfect blend of bursting pie cherry flavor and aroma, dry drinkability, and elegant tartness.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Jaques Elle. Pours lightly hazy red with a fine, pink frothy head. The nose has clean, dry berries, cherries, raspberries. Medium sweet flavor, moderately funky, sweaty, some raspberry. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy, jammy finish, more raspberry, some cherry, light acidic sweat bite. Lovely stuff.

Bottle @ What the Funk Denver 2014. Pours a cloudy pink appearance with a pink head. Holy shit, the aroma was packed full of juicy, tart pie cherries. A little oak and spritzy carbonation as well. The flavor was packed full of juicy cherries. Some lemon and funk and even a touch of cheese. Moderately tart. Not crazy complex but super delicious. Loved this brew.

On tap at Jester King. Pours a cloudy red with thick frothy pinkish head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is oak, cherry skin, and raspberry. Thin mouthfeel with tart cherry, light funk, nice light dryness. Very impressive.
