Holzfassgereiftes Starkbier

Bottled 750ml. -from Hirter Genusstheke Klagenfurt, shared with Marko & Hrabren. Bottle no. 47/56. 31.90euros for the bottle. Totally waste of money. Honey golden coloured, medium sized airy off-white, huge bubbles of carbonation, oak and light herbal nose. Caramel, honey, wet wood, light oxidation, some sweet jam like notes and sweet finish.

0.75 l bottle thanks to Ogi, shared with Marko and him. Clear light amber, minimal head. Aroma is honey, alcohol, wood and malt. All together resembles vegetable, cooked carrot. Heavy oxidation was expected, cardboard, harsh. Strong. Sweet, thin, honey, malts, candy, hints of wood plank. Slick, quite thin, alcoholic, still finishes sweet. Mineral and slightly salty.

0.7l fancy bottle courtesy of Ogivlado. Bottle 47/56, shared with Hrabren as well. Clear amber body, off-white head. Peachy aroma, some wood, oaky, dominating the aroma really. Lean, smooth, sweetish taste, peachy, bit of dried peach, herbal notes, oxidized maltiness slightly, some oak... tooooo warm really, light oxidation but it somehow works.

At Craft Bier Fest Wien. Strong alcohol aroma, plum brandy. Taste goes the same way as well. Needlessly much alcohol, not so much in way of flavour. Lightly woody but most of what I get is alcohol. Not impressed.

From bottle at 6. Wiener Bierfest.
Dark golden, clear body, with a big, frothy, white head.
Aroma of dried and ripe fruits, vanilla, barrel, some whiskey.
Tastes of vanilla, coconut, dried fruits, orange, some whiskey, honey, some booze.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes sweet, boozy, a bit hoppy, fruity.

Very nice. A quite heavy sipper, sweet, with lovely vanilla and fruit notes. Really enjoyable, but unfortunately completely overpriced.
