Unique Imperial Stout. Black, intense and komplex. Well-balanced roasted, fruity and liquorice notes with a mild bitterness and a hint of sweetness. Legendary brew from BFM clocking in at 10.276 % vol. With its ebony colour, a dense coffee flavoured foam, the bouquet incorporates hints of liquorice, Bourbon vanilla, and Sarawak pepper. Dry hopping notes and the use of roasted malts are also perceptible. On the palate, it introduces burly and creamy tastes with developing aromas that are slightly sour, but the finish proves to be long with a subtle tartness that grants this revolutionary Cuvee its ungovernable supremacy.

Bottle. Black colour with a light beige head with long duration and nice lacework. Aroma has notes of toasted and roasted malts, light acidic with hints of pepper. Flavor is roasted, acidic, light metallic, notes of berries and red fruits joined with wooden notes. The final is moderate bittery with medium duration.

Rating from 2009. --> 12,14,12,15,12,15 - 13,95

330 ml stubby swingtop bottle, batch 2012. ABV is 10.276% (!). Very brown colour, nearly black (= fairly pale for an imperial stout), huge beige head. Roasty aroma, roast malts, roast pepper, coffee, hints of vanilla and chocolate. Smooth and fairly sweet flavour, plenty of chocolate / cocoa, mild sweetened coffee, hints of molasses, medium bitter hops in the finish. Quite enjoyable.

2012 edition. Pours a pure black color with a medium light beige head. A big nose of sourness and metal. Certainly there is something going on here besides a sour roast, sour dark fruit, some chocolate and tea. Is there brett in this?

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, 29/04/13. Dark black with a mahoooosive tan head, this looks the bollocks alright! Nose is a big dose of dark malts, a boozey hit but fairly well tempered, aniseed, licqourice, dark berry fruits, chocolate. Taste comprises black forest gateux, dark toffee fudge, chocolate, molasses, hint of soured berry fruits, yeast esters. Full bodied, fine carbonation. A decent enough impy stout, the booze is well integrated.

#2100 Rating celebrated by a beer from the Swiss Fantôme. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a big café au lait head, very creamy & slowly collapsing. Nose is slightly tart, very creamy cacao, milk chocolate & chocolate milk, red fruit, café au lait. Taste is tart, red fruit, not over tartness but mellow, highly enjoyable, sweet creamy milk chocolate, chocolate milk, small red current touch, souring bacteria, small hint, inkling red grape, although I know that it sound dreadful but sour milk in a good way (if such a description can exist) certainly comes to mind, less over in the tart department etc. than the brett but more balanced, easier, intensely drinkable & highly enjoyable. Very creamy & very easy to drink. I am certain that the low scores on here are justified with a lot of BFM stuff being infected, I blame bad separation between their sours & non-sours but who knows? I don’t believe that this beer is supposed to be sour etc. All I can say that this aged keg was exceptional and had just the perfect balance of this going. Keg at La Fine Mousse, Paris 22nd April 2013. This is an interesting imperial stout with sour notes, not an impy as you would normally associate. It is thin in mouth feel, deep black and carbonated, almost refreshing citrus and astringent, especially on the finish. The only beer I can compare this too is Jolly Pumpkins, Madrogada Obscura, which is a sour stout, other wise this is fairly unique. Drinks way below the ABV, very easy drinking
