Suruga Bay Imperial IPA

Sample @ CBC. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are fruits, flowers, pine, citrus notes, malt and hops.

Tap at CBC 2013. Pours hazy golden with an off white head. Aroma is floral, citrus and grassy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

360 ml bottle ordered to Systembolaget in Mölndal early April, sampled on May 2, 2013.Hazy amber color, creamy off-white head. Alcohol, herbal scent. Malty, herbal, bitter taste, also caramel. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.The 90 IBU’s are well hidden.

Bottle. Hazy amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, mango, solvent, boozy, grain, caramel and tangerine. Taste is dry and medium bitter with notes of mango, solvent, citrus and tangerine. Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Tap at Bashamichi Taproom, Yokohama. Hazy dark ordange colour with a white head. Aroma is fruity, hops, citrus. Flavour is heavy hops, citrus, some fruitiness.

Drucken på fat på Bishop Gustav. Viss rervation då jag fick det sista i fatet. Mörkt gyllengul, disig vätska, vitt skum. Trött och murrig doft, gissar att det påverkades av att jag fick sista slatten. Smaken är inte heller den särskilt stor. Men ren och med tydlig citruskaraktär. Sötman är måttlig och efterhand blir smaken allt stramare och torrare och den krispiga citrusbeskan i eftersmaken är ölets största kvalité. Bra, men inte mer.

Bottle - Amber with a slight haze. Pineapple, lychees, grapefruit and passion fruit all feature in the enticing aroma. Hoppy, tangy and slightly sweet taste with notes of malt, grapefruit and apricot standing out.

Free half-pint from CBB, congratulations on hitting 500 facebook likes! It poured a very cloudy gold with a fluffy white head. The aroma was quite piney which was matched by the flavor. It had a crisp dry finish with a lingering hoppyness. It was very well-balanced and not super-hoppy. I thought it was quite good and was surprised to find out it’s 7.5% the alcohol isn’t noticeable at all. ----dec 2013---- 7.5% part of the 800 yen sampler at Numazu Taproom, a cloudy yellow pour with a filmy head. The nose is a great juicy hop bomb, fruity & floral-apricots, grapefruit... The taste is well balanced, the malts support the hops well & allow them to reveal a whole host of citrusy goodness. It has a nice smooth full mouthfeel & a crisp cutting bitterness which disappears quick but leaves you wanting more-top knotch stuff! A bit too astringent for my taste but really good.

Draft - Lots of citrus and sweetness on the nose, like cotton candy. Cloudy orange with no head. Orange rind and resin dominate the palate, with an oily mouthfeel.

Bottle bought at Tanakaya Liquor store in Tokyo, Japan. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, fruity, sweet aroma. Tastes fruity, hoppy, bitter and slightly sweet, some caramel too. Nice complexity in this DIPA. Probably the best Japanese beer that I’ve ever had. Good stuff.
